Hello from the peak of Mount Storm King near Port Angeles, WA!

It’s definitely been awhile so this may be a surprise for some, but, as you may have guessed–major life changes have kept this blog on the back burner. I have however been living life, and realizing the Hungry Wanderlust was ready to retire, it no longer fit. And One Hungry Mish was borne.

So Mish, what happened?
Long story short: I moved.

Long story less short: A little after my last post/video I had an opportunity to pack up and pack out. After a year of living in a cramped city without a car, far from nature, with no end in sight, I took it. This past year has taught me is life is short and those who are close to you at heart are never far in spirit. And as you can imagine, I have been going at it ever since.

So with this brief hello, here are some other updates

  • I moved from Chicago to Eastside (effectively Seattle-land)
    • It still is a heartbreak but I don’t regret it. And as a former Chicago dweller I feel compelled to share my favorite places. Everyone knows where to see the best free view of the skyline…but do you know where to see bead makers in tea shops or find the coziest Korean diners?
    • Now living in a land “latitudinally similar to Scotland”, the nature aspect, even down to “I spy -insert edible- berries” while hiking has permeated my being. So may be worth sharing although I noticed no one in PNW shares where they forage on Falling Fruit…so I may be completely faux pas by not hoarding here  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • I started a job that allows more flexibility in work/life balance
    • Call me another statistic in the Great Resignation, but this new job has made it possible for me to set healthier boundaries as well as more opportunity to work remote towns/cities/time zones apart.
  • My old laptop I was making videos on fried in a blaze of glory
    • And naturally…I chose to get a gaming laptop that doesn’t have an SD port. So what little photos I have taken–trust me a camera backslides in priority when you’re 6 miles ascending in nature–will need to be exported at a later date.
    • And on that note, videos will still likely be on pause (re: SD card). I enjoyed making them but the purpose was to help feel connected to others while eating time (I know a friend I convinced to vlog around the time I started my videos can attest to how much time this takes up). That itch has been scratched for now. I’m not confident in my showmanship to vlog without a recipe I walk people through so here we are.
    • Videos may be sporadic, as you can tell, the moment I thought that itch was scratched I had motive to pivot away from that scratch! So, not sure on the cadence, but here we are!

While I work on sharing some of my formerly local beloved haunts and activities (and my new local beloved ones too), hello again. Thank you for your patience. Having you all around is truly a treat, so whether you stumbled upon me perchance or because I heckled you to read something I made…thank you.

Stay Hungry
XOXO
Mish ❤
